In Shahjahanpur, PM Modi lists 5 boons of new expressways and airports for people of UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday listed five ways in which the new expressways, airports and railway routes will benefit the people of Uttar Pradesh, as he laid the foundation stone of the six-lane Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur in the poll-bound state.

“This network of expressways in UP, all these new airports and railway routes, together these will beneficial to the people in the following five ways,” PM Modi said, as he addressed the gathering.

He was referring to the fact that the Ganga Expressway, which will be the longest in Uttar Pradesh upon completion, will link cities such as Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

The second boon, according to him, is that these will make travelling a lot easier and convenient for the people. “The third boon is that this infrastructure represent utilisation of UP's resources. The fourth and fifth benefits are that these show the rise in abilities of the state and the all-round prosperity achieved by it, respectively.”

Saturday's visit to lay the foundation stone of the Ganga Expressway, which will be built at a cost of around ₹36,200 crore, is PM Modi's first of four to Uttar Pradesh in the coming 10 days. On December 21, he will be in Prayagraj to distribute certificates to 2.5 lakh women beneficiaries of various government schemes.

December 23 will take Prime Minister Modi to his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi, where he will launch a slew of projects. Finally, he will be in Kanpur on December 28, to inaugurate the first phase of the city's Metro project, as well as attend the annual convocation ceremony of IIT, Kanpur.
